Skating Assessment
At Infinity Health, we take an advanced biomechanical approach to skating assessments. Using Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensors and motion-capture cameras, we’re able to precisely analyze how you skate. This technology allows us to provide clear, accurate education and targeted recommendations to improve your skating performance and reduce injury risk.

Have you ever had your skating form assessed to the level we are able to provide?
Due to cost, time to set up, renting ice, or just hasn’t been attempted before, no one has taken skating to this level of assessment. Here at Infinity Health we went out and purchased a skating treadmill and a lane of synthetic ice to use the same technology that we have been using for our runners, and apply it to our skaters!
We know that skating based sports are extremely popular in our country and we want to try and give everyone the edge to improve their mechanics. Similar to our runners, there are biomechanical “bandwidths” for joint motion during skating, and research has shown that falling outside these ranges can contribute to reduced skating performance and many common skating related injuries. We use these evidence-based benchmarks to guide our assessments and recommendations.
Optimize Your Skating
At Infinity Health, we go beyond biomechanics alone. For those looking for a deeper dive, we also offer comprehensive performance testing using VALD ForceDecks, dynamometry, and additional endurance and capacity assessments. These tools allow us to assess lower-body power, lower extremity functional strength, individual muscle strength and endurance, and hip and ankle range of motion—key factors that influence how you skate.

What to Expect
Following your assessment, you’ll receive a comprehensive personalized report outlining your skating mechanics, performance metrics, and areas for improvement. This includes a personalized exercise program, individualized education and cueing to help you skate more efficiently and with less risk of injury.
Our advantage doesn’t stop at the assessment. Using our three cameras, we can provide real-time visual feedback from 3 different angles during skating sessions to give you the precise feedback that’s needed to change your stride. You’ll see three camera angles displayed live while skating, allowing us to coach immediate changes to your form. Exercise and education are important, but practicing with instant biofeedback is often the missing piece that makes lasting change possible.
As can be found on NHL edge statistics. Players that have more speed, score more goals! Here are their stats:
- Players with no speed bursts above 20mph (32km/hr)
- 0.70 goals per season
- Players with one or more speed bursts of 20-21.9 mph (32-35km/hr)
- 5.24 goals per season
- Players with one or more speed bursts of 22+ mph (35+km/hr)
- 12.06 goals per season
