Blood Flow Restriction in Calgary
At Infinity Health, we use evidence-based technology to help you recover faster, build strength safely, and return to doing what you love with confidence. One of the tools we utilize is the Delfi Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) system, a clinically validated device that allows us to achieve significant strength and muscle gains using much lighter loads.

How does blood flow restriction work?
Blood Flow Restriction training works by applying a specialized cuff to the arm or leg to partially restrict arterial blood flow during exercise. This creates a powerful training stimulus at low intensities, allowing you to build strength and muscle while placing less stress on joints, healing tissues, and surgical sites. This makes BFR especially valuable during rehabilitation, post-surgical recovery, or when pain or injury limits your ability to lift heavier weights.
What makes the Delfi system different is its precision and safety. Delfi uses personalized limb occlusion pressure to ensure the right amount of restriction for each individual, adapting in real time to changes in movement and resulting blood pressure change. This allows us to deliver consistent, repeatable, and safe BFR sessions tailored specifically to you—something that generic or non-medical BFR devices simply can’t provide.

Benefits of blood flow restriction
By integrating BFR into your rehabilitation or performance program, we’re able to accelerate strength gains, reduce muscle atrophy, and improve overall training efficiency. Whether you’re early in rehab, returning from surgery, or looking for a way to train hard without excessive joint stress, BFR allows us to push your progress while still respecting your body’s current capacity.
At Infinity Health, BFR isn’t a standalone treatment—it’s a strategic tool. When combined with expert clinical reasoning and individualized exercise programming, the Delfi BFR system helps us bridge the gap between injury and full performance, safely and effectively.
The best practice guidelines for BFR use are 2-3 times a week for 4-12 weeks. Due to the frequency of use, here at Infinity Health we have tried to make this more economical by offering quick 15 minute appointments for $30.
Our blood flow restriction sessions are insurance-billable with most providers. While we cannot verify individual coverage, your receipt will be issued as a physiotherapy treatment.
There are contraindications and precautions before using BFR, please find them below.
