Treatment
Individual Therapy
- Before starting any treatment sessions, an OT assessment (basic or complete) from one of our OTs is required.
- Sessions typically last for 45 minutes but may be extended by mutual agreement between you and the OT.
Therapeutic Groups
- Periodically, Infinity Health offers group programs to help children improve their capacity to interact with others, regulate and express emotions, and follow rules in a group environment.
- These programs complement individual therapy and address aspects that may not be covered in one-on-one sessions.
Collaboration with Teachers and Your Care Team
Struggling to communicate your child’s needs to teachers and other professionals? Infinity Health can assist your child in functioning better at school by providing input for their Individualized Education Program (IEP) or collaborating with their Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Behavior Consultant (BC) to achieve better outcomes.
Reports and Paperwork
- We can assist with completing necessary paperwork for applying for various fundings and charities.
- Additionally, a written report can be provided after the completion of the assessment, allowing care team members to provide better care for your child.
Driving Rehabilitation
- For teenagers struggling to successfully obtain a driving license or drive confidently due to sensory or physical issues, Infinity Health proudly offers our RoadReady program.
- This program combines the expertise of our pediatric OTs and driving rehabilitation specialists to assist your child in enhancing their skills and confidence.
- Please see our page (https://infinityhealth.ca/services/occupational-therapy/pediatrics/roadready/) for details.

What is Occupational Therapy and how does an individual session look?
- Occupational Therapy (OT) helps children improve everyday tasks like self-care, emotional management, learning, social interaction, and community engagement.
- During the first appointment, our OTs discuss goals with you. Then, they assess the child’s motor, sensory, and cognitive functions, habits, and interests to identify challenges.
- Our occupational therapists use various methods, including modifying demands, improving motor control, providing sensory input, modifying behavior, and teaching new movement patterns.
- Commonly used approaches and techniques include sensory integration, neurodevelopmental treatment, play-based therapy, Handwriting Without Tears, and Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Except for therapeutic groups, all treatment sessions are one-on-one and last 45 minutes, extendable with mutual agreement.
Can I join my child during assessment and treatment sessions? Will it affect my child's performance and treatment progress?
- Parents and their input are crucial for successful outcomes.
- We encourage parents to join sessions, especially initially. This allows you to observe and learn techniques to support your child’s progress outside therapy.
What are your working hours and how often should I see an OT?
- Our clinics are open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.
- Weekend sessions may be available based on OT availability.
- Session frequency varies based on individual needs. Typically, sessions are scheduled weekly or bi-weekly for a month initially, with adjustments based on progress. Your OT will determine the most suitable frequency with you.
What is the cost of OT and what funding options do you accept, and can you provide direct billing to my funder?
- Our fees are competitive, transparent, and aimed at ensuring access to quality care. Please contact our office for pricing details.
- For outreach services, a travel fee will be applied based on our OTs’ travel time to your location.
- We accept funding from the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). All our pediatric OTs are on the RASP list and can directly bill the ministry for Autism Funding (AFU) and At-Home Program (SAET) funding.
- We also accept funding from various charities and online schools, including Variety, CKNW, Self-Design Learning Foundation, Heritage Christian Online School, Jordan’s Principle, etc.
- If supporting documents are needed to access funding, we can assist with the process for an additional cost.
How much should I allocate to OT using Autism Funding?
- When deciding how much to allocate to OT services, consider your child’s needs, funding limits, and availability. We recommend allocating funding for at least the equivalent of 18 sessions to streamline administrative processes.
Why do you ask me to put credit card information on file? Is it necessary and safe?
- We require confirmation of direct deposit setup from the funder before scheduling an appointment, a process that typically takes 6 – 8 weeks.
- To expedite registration and reduce wait times, we recommend providing your credit card information. With this authorization, we can arrange assessments in as little as 2 weeks.
- For private pay clients, storing credit card information enables a convenient payment process for services rendered.
- The decision to complete credit card authorization is yours. However, please note that without this information, wait times may extend to 8-10 weeks.
- Families paid by the ministry, charity, or insurance plan will not be charged unless we cannot obtain payment from the funder within 2-3 months. If this occurs, we will notify you beforehand.
- We use the TD merchant portal for authorization, and our admin will send you the link. Infinity Health will NOT have access to your card information.
How can you ensure I have quality care?
- Our program lead, KC, supervises all our OTs to ensure they meet high standards of care. We provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities to keep our therapists updated on the latest evidence-based practices and treatment techniques.
- All our OTs are on the RASP list and have completed related pediatric training, with most having at least 5 years of experience.
- We involve parents and caregivers as partners in the therapy process, welcoming your participation in sessions. We provide education, support, and resources to empower families to support their child’s progress outside of therapy sessions.
